Haunted House of the Vampire
Kenny Odom is a nice young man who is a good student in school and keeps his nose clean...for the most part, anyway. But curiosity has gotten the better of him and he finds himself in front of a door in the basement of his house. A door his parents have forbidden him to touch as it is structurally weak and a dead end into a cement wall. Suddenly a terrifying discovery of something in a room behind that door changes his life.
Victor McAuliffe was murdered. Only he still exists due to a bite from a vampire weeks before his death. His arch enemy tied him up and tossed him in a coffin and put him in a room in Victor's very own basement. Now he has been saved from his coffin 22 years later by the teenaged boy who now lives with his parents in Victor's house. Victor is out to avenge his death and 22 year confinement. Kenny soon finds himself Victor's unwilling helper.
Full of action and adventure, Haunted House of the Vampire is a must read for young adult and mystery lovers. You can't help but feel for Kenny and his situation. He is scared out of his mind at the very idea of a vampire being nearby, let alone living in his very house. Victor will grab your sympathy as well since his condition isn't one of his own making. These characters are riveting and will keeps the reader hooked until the very last page. Unfortunately the very last page shouldn’t be the very last page. When the book ended I was looking at the back of my hand-held reader just to make sure that was really the end.
Author Bruce Markusen has a gifted pen. This story flows smoothly and doesn't have a dull moment throughout and is highly recommended. This reviewer looks forward to the next book in the Coopersville Creepers Series.
