Not For Sale

When Cain Warner hires an escort for a business dinner, he doesn’t expect to meet a woman like Olivia Maigret. She’s definitely not what she seems as she is able to converse in many languages with his associates, plus, she seems to know a lot about environmental mining, Cain’s career. As the evening comes to an end, Cain is very reluctant to let Olivia go. Though it goes against the policy of the escort service she works for, Olivia follows him up to his hotel room where they make love. Neither has ever experienced anything as explosive as their time together and when Olivia sneaks out, Cain is peeved. He wanted to spend more time with her. He hires her again for another business evening where the night follows the same pattern, only this time Cain won’t let Olivia sneak out on him.

Cain is determined to get to know Olivia, despite the fact that she is an escort. He knows something isn’t right, that her career is not who she really is. Olivia doesn’t want to care about Cain’s opinion of her. She knows that her job is only a job. The only time it has become something more is when she spent the night with Cain. It was a mere aberration. Unfortunately, when Cain and Olivia almost have a car accident, all her fears about commitment, about love, come pouring out into Cain’s willing arms. Now Cain is really confused, but even more intrigued by the many facets of Olivia. Though he doesn’t know her very well yet, the one thing he knows for sure is that first impressions are not always true. Now he’s determined to figure out just who Olivia is…and how he can make her fall in love with him.

Not For Sale tells the story of a very strong and independent woman who isn’t afraid to be who she is. Though she knows some people have the wrong impression of her, Olivia isn’t the type to try to prove herself to others. She wants to be liked, and loved, for who she is, regardless of whatever her career choices may be. I really think Rebecca Williams did a good job of portraying this type of personality in Olivia. As the title implies, she truly wasn’t for sale, no matter what Cain thought. This is not to say that Cain was a jerk, far from it. His opinion of Olivia changed more and more as he got to know her. Though he had preconceived notions of her, he was quick to point out his own mistake, a fact which really endears him to the reader. All in all, I was quite impressed with Not For Sale as it had very strong characters and a well thought out storyline.
