Derik’s Bane

Derik Gardner is an Alpha Werewolf who doesn’t know t, not until he tries to kill his best friend for getting in his way. In order to keep the peace in their pack, Derik’s pack mate gives him a quest: find the reincarnation of Morgan LeFay and ‘take care of her’ before she destroys the world. Of course, being a man and an alpha one at that, Derik decides that he needs to kill her before she annihilates civilization as we know it.

When Dr Sara Gunn misinterprets Derik’s presence and ends up stealing his car, the last thing she expects is to be the target of a cult intent on killing her. After her wacky luck disarms and injures all of the ‘death squad’, her mentor picks her up and tells her she’s late for work. Sara goes home only to be confronted by a reluctant werewolf who really doesn’t want to kill her, but has to…so sorry. A ‘lucky’ aneurysm keeps Derik from killing her. After a bit of discussing, Derik and Sara, with a little help from her mentor, decide to go to cult headquarters and confront Arthur’s Children and see why they want her dead. Will good conquer evil? Derik’s Bane is another installation of the Wyndham Werewolves Tales. I’ve always been a fan of MaryJanice Davidson’s quirky writing style and this book just enforces it. I love her stories! The repartee between Sara and Derik was a laugh a minute. When dealing with a serious problem like, the end of the world she has the hero still taking the time to eat a pound or four of bacon – how great is that? Derik is a walking brick wall for Sara to beat her head against. I loved ‘watching’ her do it. Thank you so much for a great ‘tail’. I’m looking forward to more from MaryJanice Davidson.
