Memory’s Desire

Sheena Lassiter’s chance collision with attorney Travis O’Keefe on the steps of the Cornell University library changed her life forever. Not only does the normally reserved veterinarian open up to Travis, telling him of the recent loss of her parents, she winds up spending a glorious night in his arms. After several months of phone calls, letters and emails, Sheena decides to abandon all that she knows in the East in order to be near Travis. With Travis’ assistance, she works out a plan to take over a veterinary clinic and begins the journey to Arizona.

During the cross-country trip, Sheena has an accident resulting in a memory loss. Although she doesn’t remember him, Travis comes to her rescue by offering her a job as the veterinarian on his ranch. But is it because he loves her or because he feels guilty? She’s confused and frightened. She can’t remember who she is, let alone understand her feelings for the enigmatic Travis.

Gale Storm tells a wonderful story about a strong, intelligent woman who is finally taking charge of her life. Although the secondary characters could have been better developed, I really enjoyed the main characters. Sheena has been in a rut since her parents’ death and after meeting Travis, finally feels she has a reason to live her life. Travis is an alpha male who has issues of his own. He has a long lost half brother who turns up unexpectedly, as well as a criminal he’s prosecuting whose family wants to kill him. Add Sheena’s memory loss and her confused feelings for Travis, and you’ve got a great story. Since they’re both strong willed, Travis and Sheena seem to rub each other the wrong way, yet they can’t stay away from each other either.

Although Memory’s Desire is a sweet romance that explores their feelings and insecurities on the rocky road to love, Sheena and Travis’ conflicts often seemed repetitive. She is frustrated because she can’t remember herself or her feelings and he wants to control her and the situation. If you enjoy a sweet story with strong main characters, you’ll like Memory’s Desire.
