Acceptance

In Rhobin Courtright’s Acceptance, Kissre Pierce travels to Cygna to determine if her sister is there of her own decision.

Kissre is a mercenary by trade and Colonel in the Kaereya’s Royal Guard due to her faithful service. Kaereya is her home; nevertheless she is obligated to return to the land of her birth after receiving her sister’s letter. Dreading her arrival and Tyna’s opinion of her lifestyle, Kissre rebuffs Tyna’s welcome the instant she reaches her destination.

Tyna loves and adores Kissre; however she cannot comprehend why Kissre loathes their mother and prefers a barbaric mercenary existence over a respectable life in Cygna. If Tyna persists in rebuking and shaming her sister, she will lose Kissre before she ever knew her.

Dovel’s relationship with Kissre is initiated out of curiosity yet it produces a bond between them. Irate and bitter, Kissre flees from Dovel and Tyna. Unexpectedly she is attacked and gravely injured at the city gate. Trapped in Cygna, Kissre must confront her past or lose everything, even her life.

Acceptance is a riveting saga of treachery, hostility, censure, and second chances. Kissre abhors her mother for favoring Tyna. Tyna blames Kissre for her lifestyle. In the midst of their family pain, Cygna’s freedom is endangered by King Clement’s covetousness and craving to dominate. Required to work together, they battle a relentless adversary and each other.

Rhobin Courtright deftly weaves a tale of Acceptance and faith in the midst of political upheaval and transformation. I love the world that she has created and I hope to continue to share in the lives of the citizens of Cygna and Kaereya.
