Born to Fly
Born to Fly is the first in the Prescott Pilots series and introduces readers to the triplet Prescott sisters, Sharla, Dee, and Carlie.
Sharla and her sisters are all pilots in their family business. It comes as no surprise to Sharla that after a rare weekend off, her sisters would find a way to retaliate in some way. Their choice of “punishment” dumbfounds her when they force her to fly with Reed Connors on his latest charter. Reed needs a week long charter service and Sharla doesn’t relish the idea of being his personal chauffer. She can’t stand the man and the feelings are obviously mutual. He dated both of her sisters but never came close to asking her out.
Reed is an agent with the US Marshall Service. His current assignment has him playing decoy for a charge under their protection. He believes the danger is at a minimum and would have preferred to keep Sharla out of the situation completely, but she is the only one that can pilot for him. When the threat to them escalates, the rules of the game change. The sexual attraction between Sharla and Reed can no longer be denied when they are confined to close quarters. The only question is how can a career pilot and a federal agent find love when both are headstrong and unwilling to change?
Born to Fly is high on the sensual meter and I for one reveled in it. Becky Barker has penned a fast-paced, captivating story that readers are certain to take pleasure in. The characters in Born to Fly are one of the best aspects of the book. Here’s a man who knows what he wants but believes he can’t have it because of the way he has chosen to live his life. Here’s a woman that allows no man to ‘clip her wings’ so to speak and makes no excuses for it. They are what they are, take it or leave it. These two strong individuals are not just enjoyable and real to life, but also engaging and genuine. The plot of the story is really interesting and flows skillfully. Born to Fly also has a flare of paranormal elements. The sisters are triplets and as such share an exceptional bond and connection. When an author can make me read a book from start to finish without putting it down, that is a testament to the how great the book is and how involved I was in the story. Ms Barker has done that with Born to Fly and then some. What’s even better is knowing that there are two more books to this series; that there are two more chances to be engrossed by Ms. Barker’s words and descriptions. What could be better than that? I truly enjoyed reading Born to Fly and I look forward to other works by Becky Barker. 5 Angels!
