Letters From the Heart

Luke Worthington’s life is in Chicago; he has a successful law practice and a mutually satisfying, no-strings-attached relationship. What more could a guy ask for? One of his clients is also a friend from his hometown. Long ago, Luke stopped thinking about Creek Falls (as well as all the people in it), or so he keeps telling himself. As he becomes more embroiled in his client’s case and receives a mysterious message about his father, Luke knows he has no choice but to go home again.

Zoe Davis has earned her successes the hard way. After the tragic accident that caused Luke’s mother’s death, it’s taken her eight long years to earn the respect and trust of her fellow townspeople. Zoe was certain Luke would come home again; after all, she’d ‘seen’ it. She knows that Luke’s family needs help and that she can’t stand by without doing something. Zoe also knows that seeing Luke again is going to be distressing for her. Besides the fact that he left town all those years ago, it was his lack of trust in her that devastated her the most. There’s going to be death and more pain if something isn’t done to stop it. Zoe’s gifts allow her to see glimpses of the future, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be changed, right? Luke’s family is fractured by guilt, grief, and misunderstandings from years ago, so Zoe will do all that she can to help them heal. And maybe, just maybe, Luke and Zoe can find their way back to one another in the process.

Letters from the Heart is an action-packed story that will captivate readers from the first word. The plot twists are numerous, but easy to follow. The Worthington’s are one fractured family, each having dealt with Luke’s mother’s death in their own dysfunctional way. Luke ran, his brother disappeared into a bottle and his father lashed out, placing the fallout from the tragedy and its burdens squarely on Zoe.

Zoe is a witch not to be messed with; she is more than capable of taking care of herself and her gifts are phenomenal. Healing and forgiveness are a large part of this story, and the sentimental side of this tale is easily grasped by readers. There are many different layers in this book, with each one being more inviting and endearing than the next. The suspenseful plotline alone will keep readers on the edge of their seats. Just when you think you’ve figured out who the antagonist is, Whiting lets loose with a clue and you find that you're wrong...or are you? Letters from the Heart is a gem of a story that delivers believably complex relationships and the myriad struggles that grief and loss bring. Anita Whiting shines in this memorable and magical piece.
