Logan's Lady
Dee is the 'middle' sister of the Prescott triples and Logan's Lady is her story.
Dee had hoped to never see Logan Bradford again, so it comes as quite a shock when she finds herself standing in his house. Logan is as equally shocked, but not nearly as reluctant, at the surprising turn of events. Ever since he'd let his pride destroy their budding relationship, he'd done nothing but think of Dee. Dee won't have it; Logan hurt her so badly in the past that she wants nothing to do with him. No way will she chain herself to him for the weeks it will take to train him and his staff to learn to fly. As Logan learns the secret that Dee has kept, even from her sisters, he uses it against her to get what he wants. He can't let Dee go, but at the same time, he's more concerned with getting back at her. Logan is so furious with her, but that doesn't mean he wants her any less. Logan will have Dee again, no matter what he has to do to get her.
There's no mistaking the passion between Dee and Logan, but they both feel deeply wronged by the other. The more time they spend in each other’s company the more they learn about the other. When one of the sisters is in danger, Logan's witnesses Dee's response. Having witnessed yet another of Dee's secrets, Logan recognizes that while they loved and learned about each other, before their split, they hadn't really learned the important things about one another. After all, isn’t he keeping secrets from Dee as well? The dawning realization that he’s been so wrong about Dee is devastating to Logan. Having already learned that he can't live without her, Logan is more determined than ever to regain Dee's love and her trust.
Having already proved to me, her ability to engross readers in her work, Becky Barker builds on that believe belief in Logan's Lady. As I’d caught a glimpse of Logan in Born to Fly, I already looked forward to reading Logan's Lady. Ms. Barker excels at providing her characters with emotional depth; it's one of the reasons they are so authentic and identifiable. The hurt that both Logan and Dee feel resonates throughout the story. Who can't identify with having their heart broken by the one they love and likewise loving that person, still, even though they have hurt you deeply? It's this everyday heartbreak that makes it so easy to connect with Logan's Lady. Ms. Barker has taken a common occurrence, but pens it so well, readers are right there with the characters. The additional secondary characters add to the story, as do the re-introductions to the characters from the previous book. The special ability shared among the sisters is more prevalent in this book, as Dee seems to be the sister most affected with their gift. This paranormal element only adds a more intriguing layer to this already great story. Ms. Barker tends to include the right amount of sex in her stories. There's no doubt that the couples in question want and desire each other. The other, the encounters are sizzling, and that fact comes across the pages very well without being over the top. I enjoy Becky Barker’s books because the plots are so great that I can't read fast, to get through the book; I need to slow down and enjoy it. I'm interested in what I'm reading from the beginning and I'm disappointed to find that the story has ended. Logan's Lady just feels comfortable; it's one of those books that you can just curl up with and know that you'll love.
