Loving Carlie
Carlie is the youngest of the Prescott triplets and after twenty-five years her life is changing forever. Although she couldn’t be happier for her sisters, that doesn’t change the profound sadness within her. Michael Preston has been in love with Carlie for years. There’s nothing he regrets more than introducing her to his older brother, Bill. Carlie and Bill’s short marriage was a disaster from beginning to end; he profoundly hurt her both physically and emotionally. Carlie knows Michael isn’t the commitment type and the intensifying sexual attraction between them has grown increasingly hard to ignore. With a little bit of champagne, Carlie’s inhibitions lessen. She figures two consenting adults can enjoy each other with no strings attached. What Carlie doesn’t realize is that Michael wants, and has always wanted, more. All he has to do is convince her that he’s nothing like his brother, but can Carlie learn to trust and to love again when lessons learned the hard way aren’t easily forgotten?
Loving Carlie is the conclusion to the Prescott Pilots series and is considerably shorter than the previous two books, but packs quite a punch nonetheless. The interactions between Carlie and Michael will leave readers breathless and wanting more. Carlie’s struggle to believe in what she and Michael could have is heartfelt. Here’s a once battered woman who doesn’t feel she can trust her own judgment. She did that once and she was wrong. Michael loves Carlie and wants no other. His frustrations are obvious, yet his compassion knows no bounds. Becky Barker pens this all with ease. Her characters are delightful and her descriptions are refreshing. The Prescott Pilots series is a poignant family drama and one that shouldn’t be missed.
