The Blade Chaser’s Son

Scott Danvers didn’t know he was a Warrior’s son – an illegitimate one, true, but a son nonetheless. His mother had been a “blade chaser,” a sort of groupie for Night Warriors, and had hidden him from his father, telling Scott little about him or his heritage. Growing up outside the fold, Scott is unique among Warriors.

Katie Konig-Maher knows that her mate is out there, but she cannot find him. She’s met and rejected all of the eligible Warriors, and he doesn’t seem to be among them, until she meets Scott of the Armen clan and immediately knows that he is the one for her.

Brenna Lyons’ work always impresses me.The Blade Chaser’s Son, a novel in the Night Warriors series, is a well written story, with a believable (albeit paranormal) plot. Lyons is skilled at characterization, which is demonstrated by the primary and secondary characters in this story. Scott is a “rebel without a cause” – angry at the world and at his father in particular for not claiming him earlier. He is the outcast among his new family, and behaves in direct opposition to what he thinks they want him to do. Katie is feeling the mating urge, and, as is the rule in her culture, it is the woman who gets to do the choosing of mates. Her motives and feelings come across crystal clear as she interacts with the male of her choosing. Many of the other characters in this story have already been featured in their own stories and will be familiar to devoted fans of this series. While the sex scenes in this story are quite explicit and mildly kinky, they are affectionate and even romantic in their tone. While I am a fast reader, I normally don’t read a book this long in only 2 hours, therefore, it’s obvious that I enjoyed the story a great deal! I recommend it highly as another fine example of Brenna Lyons’ work.
