The God’s Wife

After serving several years in the Royal army, Senmut, a royal scribe, was surprised at the beauty his childhood friend Hatshepsut had grown into. Watching Hati perform in front of the Pharaoh Tutmose and the royal house in hopes of becoming the God’s wife, Senmut realized his feelings for Hati. However, after she is chosen to marry the Pharaoh, he knows that despite whatever feelings and erotic dreams he may have of Hati, she will never be his. What Senmut does not know is that Pharaoh Tutmose has seen for himself what his scribe has given up for his country and plans to pay him back.

Hati has trained her whole life to be a God’s Wife, and when her performance wins her the opportunity to marry Pharaoh Tutmose, she is elated. The marriage between the two isn’t love at first sight, and Hati has much to prove to the Pharaoh. She first starts with his insecurities, and it isn’t long before the Pharoah sees what a remarkable woman Hati is. Life will not be all bliss for Hati, and soon she is given the responsibility of a kingdom and the people of Egypt. Can she prove to be the woman the Pharoah thinks she is?

The God’s Wife by Lena Austin is an exceptional read with several jaw-dropping plot twists that will leave readers hooked and wanting more. The relationship between the Pharaoh and Hati is delightful and refreshing. While he seems to be a tad bit sensitive, it is Hati who helps to bring him confidence in himself. Hati is a magnificent heroine and readers will cheer her on at every turn. She is a very strong woman who without complaint takes the life she's been given and lives it to the fullest.

While readers will love the relationship between the Pharaoh and Hati, they will also cheer for Senmut as well. He is a man of honor and would never betray his Divine One even for his love of Hati. There are several other characters in this book that will make help make it even more unforgettable; Pythia and Bala are two this reviewer really enjoyed. With all the plot surprises and incredible characters, Ms. Austin has definitely given readers another keeper for their bookshelves!
