Ancient Blood: Infernal
Matthew is one of most well known hematologist in Boston. In the public, he is all prim and proper; a well-respected doctor by all his peers, but no one knows that he is actually an immaculate brought up in mortal world, an alpha vampire, powerful and deadly beneath his white suit.
Dulcie, also an immaculate, has been married to Matthew for 8 years. She brought Matthew out of loneliness and introduced him to a new world of their existence. A well-established artist in her own right, she is beautiful and confident in the love she and Matthew shared.
In Infernal, we are reacquainted with Dulcie and Matthew, whose story started in The Blood Doctor. After 8 years of their marriage bliss, Dulcie and Matthew are still very much in love with each other and enjoy being married. However that happiness does not last when Matthew found that the research lab he was asked to join was not what it seems. Unable to ignore the torturing of an original vampire child, he rescued the child from the lab and risks all that he held dear. More of Matthew’s past is being revealed from his journal entries, the guilt and the confusion on what he had endured, and how meeting Dulcie has changed his life and made him into the man that he is now. On the run against time, Matthew has to clear his name, help a group of hybrids with their problem with werewolves and prove that there is more to Jay than what it seems.
Kate Hill has created a world where vampires are classified as immaculate, hybrid and originals, and have the ability to live with the humans in the mortal world. Infernal is a tale full of love, family, hope and danger that had me held on to my computer til the very end. This is the first book I have read by Ms. Hill, and to be clichéd, it will definitely not be my last. Although I have never read The Blood Doctor, I am able to follow the story easily and was drawn into what Matthew and Dulcie shared. The love play between them is as wild and hot as it can get, it is also an act of giving and taking. One can see the affection and love they had for each other. Their forced separation pulled at my heartstring and I cried silly tears over what Matthew had suffered, in his youth and on the run. Dulcie supports Matthew’s dedication in his work and stands strongly by the decision he has made. I love how she allows Matthew to follow his heart and not pass judgement. I am looking forward to the next book in this series for more of Ms. Hill’s immaculate vampires and the continuation of the story. You can be sure that I will be grabbing all of Ms. Hill’s books off the cyber shelves as soon as I can. This is a book that all vampire fans have to devour and will have you asking for more even before you get to the end.
