Leah Mosley, a quilt designer, is scheduled to film an important talk show segment about her craft. To say that she’s had a hard life would be an understatement; she’s suffered the loss of a child, the shattering of romantic dreams from her youth, and the disappointment of an abusive, failed marriage. She’s understandably nervous about the taping, and is psyching herself up for her appearance when she meets a man—a famous man. After making a fool of herself with him, why would he ever want to see her again?

Robert Stetson has problems of his own. He's in a downward spiral and has all but wrecked his movie career. The only work his agent can get for him is doing voice-overs. When he sees the pretty lady talking to herself in the atrium of his agent’s office building, he is overwhelmed with the need to meet her and get to know her. First, he follows her, to the taping, then to the airport and eventually to Michigan, where she lives. He can’t get her out of his mind, and he knows that she is the answer to overcoming his drinking problem so that he can do movies again.

Addictions is a story of just that—compulsions that have the power to wreck lives and relationships. Lucy A. Fazely makes her point with a velvet-encased hammer as this poignant and heart-wrenching tale of love and loss unfolds. This is a moving work, taking Leah and Robert’s relationship from meeting each other to the pain that comes with coping with alcoholism.
