Scandalous
Dominic Mallory, the black sheep of his family, returns home, and he is immediately enchanted with the breathtaking woman he meets on the terrace at his brother’s engagement ball. He’s come back to request a boon from his brother, but the walls of tension and anger between them are almost too overwhelming to bear. Little does he know the identity of the woman, and how his life is about to change...
Katherine Fleming has it all - a wonderful fiancé and the promise of a perfect life ahead of her - until scandal strikes. Suddenly, her engagement is uncertain, she’s met a man who makes her pulse sing, and she’s reminded of the way she’s closed herself off from the memories of her youth. Who knows what her future holds?
Scandalous was an exciting and fun read; I really enjoyed the complexity of Dominic and Katherine. Their secrets and emotional baggage, and the way that they sort through it all, is the emotionally poignant main thrust of this tale. Secondary characters only serve to enhance and flesh out this story, adding intrigue, betrayal, and spice. Jenna Petersen shines in this Regency-era romance, pitting family against family and showing the love that two lonely and damaged people can find if they only set aside their hurts. Excellently crafted, Scandalous is certain to please readers who love this genre and those who love a rousing tale about a rake’s reform.
