Serena’s Web
Serena McLain’s father Samuel, a writer, is missing. He’d been working on a tell-all book about ruthless bad guy Gerald Grayson, and hadn’t checked in for days, missing Serena’s son’s birthday party in the process. When Serena goes to his house to investigate, she finds it deserted, unlocked and vandalized. Contacting her dad’s publisher friend, her fears increase as Frank tells her that he hasn’t heard from her father. She takes the matter to the local police, and gets absolutely nothing for her time. On her way out, she notices a sexy, stubble-faced janitor, but she’s got to go and try to find her dad.
FBI agent Mark Riley is undercover, investigating corruption and cover-ups in the local police department. Besides being under investigation by the feds, Gerald Grayson is a rich and powerful man who will go to any ends to prevent Carlson’s book from being published; Mark is on the team that intends to bring Grayson down. And then Serena gets a wild idea to hire a P.I. and crash a party at Grayson’s house, which is just an invitation to disaster...
Dislike and attraction hum between Mark and Serena in Serena’s Web as they find common ground and try to find Serena’s dad. Julie Skerven’s characters come to life as this book unfolds; Serena is a mama tigress when it comes to her son and Mark is a man fighting to remove the stain from his record and keep his distance from her. His protective instincts war against her need to be involved in rescuing her father. A fine edge of danger pervades this book, building the tension and edge-of-your-seat intrigue until something has to give. Serena’s Web delivers a suspenseful yet heart-warming tale of danger and love.
