The Golden Padawan
When Aeli Camil, a Jedi trainee and almost-padawan, sees him, she knows that he is her destiny. Something inside her speaks to her, calming her fears and quieting her heart. She is growing, stretching her new-found powers, and experiences many new and exciting things.
Brenan Auri-Owan, near-master of the Jedi and famed warrior, comes to the training grounds and is astounded at his “link” to Aeli. He’s not entirely comfortable with the emotion that she sets free within him, but he is intrigued and entranced as she is. He trains her, helping her to gain a deeper knowledge of the Force, and then he must continue on his journey, leaving her behind.
There is danger for the Jedi and their like, though, as several incidents of missing Jedi and padawans have been reported. There is no pattern to the attacks, and no trace can be found telling what really happened to them.
The Golden Padawan is a tale tied closely to the Star Wars stories. In fact, you’ll not be surprised to find some familiar Jedi among the characters of this work. Only a true fan of the Star Wars series, with an innate knowledge of the inner workings of the storyline and characters could write such a piece as this, giving us a strong and bold picture of the life of these warriors. The new twists that author Diane Lau spins into this tale were just right and just enough to pull this reader right in. I’m hoping that Ms. Lau will continue to tell us more of the Jedi, and help to solve the mysteries surrounding them. Danger, legend, fierce battles, and power mingle to please readers in The Golden Padawan.
