Blackmailed into Marriage

Damian Marquez took one look at seventeen-year-old Rosalia Chavez-Torres and immediately decided that he wanted her.

Many things have changed in the years since that meeting but the punched-in-the-gut feeling he gets when he looks at her is not one of them. Rosalia, Lia as she insists on being called, is now a young widow, a mother, and the woman who can give him the things that he has been denied his entire life, namely respectability and acceptance into the Spanish nobility that his out of wedlock birth denied him. Her grandfather, his business partner, assures him that she is in favor of a marriage, however things are not as they appear. Too late Damian learns that while his marriage into the Chavez-Torres family may have earned him a title, it also may have cost him the only woman that he could ever love.

Lia’s father died when she was fifteen, and her grief-stricken mother moved them back to Spain, back into her grandfather’s home. Having just lost her father and being torn away from the only home she had ever known, Lia did not deal well with her grandfather’s aristocratic ways, and at eighteen eloped with her American boyfriend. She vowed that she would never again place her life under her grandfather’s control. She has returned for only one reason - her daughter has a life-threatening heart condition which requires a surgery that she cannot afford. She knows that the financial help will come with conditions, but she never dreams that she will be Blackmailed into Marriage.

In Blackmailed into Marriage, Lucy Monroe creates a hero that you should despise for his single-mindedness and cold-hearted reasons for marrying. Then, she gives you a look at the man underneath and shows his vulnerability in such a way that you can’t help but fall in love with him. There are a few surprises in this book that make it even more heart-wrenching than some of this author's previous releases, making it one of my favorites. I’ve never read a book by Lucy Monroe that I didn’t like. I invite you to pick up a copy of Blackmailed into Marriage - I’m sure you’ll say the same.
