Wave Watcher
Ray is a young man whose father has encouraged him to write his thoughts in a notebook at night when he is unable to sleep, which is most nights. His family thinks that he can't sleep because of his dreams, but that is not true. Ray hasn't written in a year, since a terrible event changed his life. Now it is time for him to begin writing again. He spends hours writing fragments of his memories, fragments of who and how he became who he is. This writing helps Ray come to grips with certain aspects of his life. Come visit Ray's life and the important people in it.
Wave Watcher is an intriguing tale of a boy named Ray and his family. Ray's younger brother is a special person. Louie was born with an enlarged heart, but that is just the start of an array of events that shape Louie into the wonderful and beautiful person he is. His father is an intelligent man who imparts Ray with numerous tidbits of wonderful insights. Wave Watcher is written in the first person by Ray. It's somewhat fragmented, and at times hard to follow, but the characters are heartwarming and will endear themselves to the reader's heart. This reviewer found the tale alternating between fascinating and slow moving, but the inspired wisdom contained within it will keep readers turning the pages.
Author Craig Alan Johnson has penned a unique and very well-written tale, pieces of which will stay with the reader for a long time. This tale is recommended for advanced young adults and adult readers. This reviewer feels that it will be a bit dry for keeping the interest of some young people. Look closely for the words of wisdom and reflect on the meanings; you will not be disappointed.
