Maslow’s Needs

Vampires aren’t real…are they? Detective Jessie Tanner came to New York to find a killer, plain and simple. But what she finds is something more dark and powerful than anything she could ever imagine. On the trail of a club owner and vampire named Drayden Maslow, Jessie delves into the ranks of Goths and finds herself lost within their world. Just a small town girl, Jessie has never experienced the kind of sensations that Drayden makes her feel. Where she comes from sex is sweet and innocent, but she soon finds out that even a sweet girl like herself can beg for the roughness Drayden offers.

Along the way she is befriended by a neo-pagan witch named Kostantinos. He teaches Jessie how to protect her mind from the evils that lurk at night. Jessie puts her cop intuition to work the moment she lays eyes on Drayden Maslow. She is mesmerized and repulsed by the sight of him, which oddly arouses her. Upon investigation, Jessie learns that looks can and will be deceiving when emotions obstruct her sight.

Murder, lust, and revenge burn through the pages of Maslow’s Needs. Sheri Gilmore’s adaptation of the modern vampire is wonderful. Emotions run high as Jessie desperately searches for a killer. The sexual tension and suspense blaze each and every page from beginning to end. Every man wants to be Drayden and every woman wants to be dominated by him. Turn the air up or open a window because the fire radiated between these two characters can cause blistering fevers. There is definitely no “in between” in this story. I thought the story line was nicely executed and left the reader with a sense of fulfillment. I would recommend Maslow’s Needs by Sheri Gilmore to each and every woman with a wild streak and passionate heart.
