MacDougal’s Rule

Police officer Seth MacDougal has one rule: never get involved with a coworker. However, that rule is very hard to follow when the delectable Maxie Travis starts work as a dispatcher in his department. For six months he watches her, holding back because he just doesn’t want the hassle of a dating a coworker. But he watches anyway and a part of him is very glad when Maxie doesn’t start dating any of their other coworkers. But one hot July day, Seth sees Maxie playing in the fountain outside of the courthouse. A wet and willing Maxie is very different then the more demure woman he knows at work. Is MacDougal about to break his number one rule?

Despite its short length, MacDougal’s Rule is a very satisfying romance. The connection and heat between Maxie and Seth is felt from the very first page. It is a very deep connection, despite the fact that both have been holding back. I was very impressed by how easily Ms. Dane created a heartfelt and emotional bond between Maxie and Seth. Neither looked on their encounter as a fling, and both had some very deep feelings under the surface of their coworker façade. All in all, this is a very pleasing romance that will remind you of how quickly love can strike, in spite of all the rules one may wish to create. Maxie and Seth are a truly adorable pair.
