Andrea “Andy” Bond is about to experience the adventure of a lifetime when a group of her college best friends calls her up and invites her to go on a pleasure cruise. It’s not just any ordinary pleasure cruise, it’s a bondage and D/s themed cruise. Not only will the cruise be a lot of fun, but Andy is going to do research on the bondage lifestyle in preparation for her next book. But all work and no play makes Andy a dull girl, so when her college crush shows up on the boat too, she finally sees the opportunity to perhaps get a bit closer to him, like she wanted to in college. Shy and overweight Andy is gone, replaced by confident and svelte career woman Andy. Though she’s nervous, she’s not about to let Jack Riley slip through her fingers again.

Jack Riley can’t believe how gorgeous Andy has become. During his senior year in college, Jack started to develop serious feelings for Andy. He had finally grown up enough to see beyond her appearance to the delightful and tender woman she was. Things didn’t work out for them then and he wants a chance to try again. In fact, Andy’s presence is the only reason he agreed to go on the cruise. Now, as Andy and Jack experience the bondage scene together, they learn things about themselves that they never knew existed. New sexual appetites come to the fore, along with growing feelings for each other. Will this be the start of a real relationship, or only the beginning of a fling that will end with the cruise?

Voyage to Submission is a journey of the senses. Mlyn Hurn’s extensive knowledge of the D/s lifestyle coupled with her compelling characters makes for a great read. Jack and Andy light sparks off each other while the secondary cast of characters provides for lots of embarrassing moments, humorous spots, and of course, reminiscences. Ms. Hurn flashes back and forth from the present to the past with an ease and clarity that should be applauded. The reader won’t get lost during the flashbacks. Andy’s exploration of herself is the best part of the story. Andy starts off a bit straight-laced but by the end of the novel, there is no corner of her heart left undiscovered. Jack certainly plays a part in her self-discovery, but it proves to be Andy’s own curiosity and zest for life that brings about the most changes.

Voyage to Submission is an exciting read that won’t leave you disappointed. Mlyn Hurn has captured a new fan with this story.
