Serafina is a woman who wants to be loved; unfortunately she’s in a relationship with a man who's giving her very little attention. While on vacation with her fiancé she experiences a series of sexual dreams. She also meets Gabriel, a man who makes her want things with an intensity she never expected to feel. Incubus is the story of just how much of risk she is willing to take. Will she continue the course she’s set with her current fiancé? Will Gabriel give her the love she craves? How can she be happy with any reality when the lover in her dreams satisfies her like no man has?
Raine Weaver has created a passionate story with an interesting blend of reality and myth. The characters are fascinating in that some are so typical while others are so unique. The dream lover that Raine Weaver has created is unbelievable. However the dialogue in Incubus at times didn’t seem natural. A couple of clichés also made the story fall short of expectations for me. The paranormal just opens up so many possibilities that allowed for interesting exploration in Incubus. Raine Weaver does deliver with her great descriptive writing in the characters' thought processes, which was more believable. The sex in both realms is senuous. Raine Weaver writes the kind of characters you like to hate or you really like, but either way you emotionally invest in them and in their story. Incubus is a short, sweet read that will appeal to the hopeless romantic in all of us.
