Only for a Knight
Juliana MacKay was heading to repay a debt owed by her mother when she took a fall into the loch. She loses her memory but finds herself attracted to the man who rescued her. The same is true for her savior as he finds himself smitten with Juliana.
Robbie Mackenzie is finally returning home after an absence of ten years. He is to marry Lady Euphemia Macleod and take over as Laird from his father. Robbie rescues and saves an injured woman from drowning. Robbie is man torn by his promise and his duty. He is a charming and sexy man who must fulfill his promise to marry Euphemia, but he didn’t expect to fall in love with Juliana. He tries his best to get out of his betrothal without offending Euphemia and her family, and it was entertaining to watch his efforts. Juliana is a winsome and feisty heroine. She falls in love with Robbie and when her memory returns, it throws a roadblock to their happily ever after.
Robbie and Juliana are charming together. There is chemistry between them from their first meeting that only increases as time passes. Robbie’s tenderness toward her is touching. They make a memorable couple, and readers will be able to feel the love between them. There are many secondary characters, but the one that stood out to me was Euphemia. She brought forth an added dimension to the story. Her story and romance is explored and this reader empathized with her feelings.
Only for a Knight is an entertaining Scottish romance filled with details and imagery that transport the reader to Scotland. It will give readers a taste of 14th century Scotland. Sue-Ellen Welfonder knows her subject well, and this shows throughout this story. Ms. Welfonder has quite a few books in her backlist, and from the titles, they seem to be all set in Scotland; this reader will definitely try to find all her previous releases. Only for a Knight was my introduction to Ms. Welfonder’s books and it was a wonderful treat!
