Final Choices - Nathan Cotton Vampire Series

Nathan’s been a vampire for over 300 years. He feels that he is being followed, but cannot sense who or what kind of creature is following him. Could it be a ghost of one of his past conquests or perhaps even his first love, Iris, haunting him? Another possibility is a young boy - Alexandra's son - who tried to stake him while Nathan was making love to his mother.

Nathan seeks out Terra, the one person he seems to have human feelings for, and the one person he craves. But vampires aren’t supposed to feel emotion, are they? Nathan felt like this once before long, long ago, and that proved to be a mistake—a mistake he couldn’t (and wouldn’t) make ever again. The flashbacks from his past plaque him; there’s something after him.

Terra, an Atlanta police detective, accepts Nathan and feels more than she should for a vampire. She would never have believed in vampires—until Nathan. She puts thoughts of Nathan aside when she’s temporarily partnered up with sexy L.A. cop Austin Williams.

Nathan can sense Terra and Austin’s activities, and he is more than a little upset. He receives a phone call threatening Terra, but she doesn’t believe Nathan when he relays that she may be in danger; she thinks he is just jealous. Soon enough Terra finds out that Austin isn’t who he seems and Nathan shows his true character.

Explicit sex scenes - and there are many here - are hot, hot, hot. Lydia Parks pulls the reader directly into the story. Even if you haven’t read the other Nathan Cotton books, you won’t find this story hard to follow. Final Choices is definitely a change of pace from the recent deluge of vampire books on the market. The characters are strong and engaging; this was a nice short read.
