Casey Wells hasn't had much luck balancing men with her career. Most men at some point begin to resent the time she devotes to her career. When she accepts a new position at a prestigious PR company in California, she makes a conscious decision to focus all her energies on her work. In fact her demanding boss, Val Underwood, won't have it any other way. However, when Casey meets Shawn she finds herself wanting to take time out for fun. Knowing her track record with men though, she decides to ignore the obvious attraction between them. Shawn too, is determined to let a good thing go by and makes a bet with Casey that she can't have a successful relationship while working for Val. Soon Casey finds herself in a relationship with Shawn and risking more than the 5,000 dollars for the bet. Can her career aspirations and her heart survive?

Autumn Crossroad delivers a straightforward, enjoyable, romantic tale. Ms. Warner has crafted characters that are very true to life and enjoyable. The author's styling allows readers to focus on the emotions and motivations of the varied characters she has created. I enjoyed how the author was able to create a romance that hinted at the love and desire developing between Casey and Shawn, while at the same time letting readers get to know them and the people that are important in their lives. I was surprised by how aptly Ms. Warner conveyed the depth of Casey and Shawn’s emotions through dialogue and platonic interaction. This is one romance that treats readers to not only a fabulous, touching romance, but also to a dynamic group of characters that will have readers fully involved in the story.
