Wesley Atherton is a psychiatrist renowned for his medical expertise. He believes in the logic science and medicine have established; however, his life is about to change.

Katherine Lawson is a beautiful, intelligent, and very engaged intern working at the same hospital as Wes. Normally Wes would not encroach on another man’s territory, but something about Katherine compels him to pursue her. One evening is all it takes for him to decide that he can’t let her go without fighting for her, yet before he can begin his conquest the train they are on derails and Katherine is severely injured. As he sits by her bedside, little does he know that something sinister is lurking, waiting for Katherine. As events transpire, Wes is drawn into a world that tests his beliefs and his courage. Can he find the strength to protect the woman he has come to love?

In the Still of the Night takes the concept of the balance between life and death and delivers an unusual variation. The initial scene immediately grabs readers’ attention and the author’s style ensures that their interest is maintained throughout the rest of the story. The use of flashbacks was at times confusing, but once a reader becomes used to this tool, they are able to grasp the significance of the scenes. The factual use of medical terminology enhanced the realism of the hospital scenes without being overdone and provided a backdrop for the mounting tension. Ms. Williams maintains the impending sense of doom while offering readers lighter moments of passion and humor. In the Still of the Night is an event-filled first offering from Ms. Williams that fans of the unusual are sure to enjoy.
