Annabelle Blue is a vivacious young lady with an overactive imagination. One day while tending the family store, her aunt comes strolling in babbling about ghosts that are haunting her house and how she needs Annabelle to stay with her so they can figure out the mystery of what the ghosts wants. Of course Annabelle wants nothing to do with it, but her mother forces her to go. Annabelle thinks her aunt is a nutcase.

When weird things start happening and a strange gentleman is found murdered on her aunt’s property, she enlists the help of Phil Gunderson. Phil is an easy going guy who is in love with Annabelle. Although he finds her to be exasperating, frustrating and hard-headed, he has promised to help her.

Will they solve the mystery in time, before another murder happens? Is it really ghosts or some other entity that is causing the trouble?

Pecos Valley Diamond is an intriguing and funny read. Alice Duncan has a magical ability to add a lot of humor to a mysterious story line. I often laughed at the easy bantering, witty comebacks and the very colorful characters you will find in Ms. Duncan’s enchanting tale. I loved Annabelle for her quick wit and nutty ideas. The other characters added substantial pizzazz to Pecos Valley Diamond. I really enjoyed the ending. You will never guess who is behind the mysterious murders and unnatural noises. Well done, Ms. Duncan. I look forward to reading more of your work.
