Endangered, Nights of Lust, Book One

Livia has been a vampire for so long that she can barely remember what it was like to be human. She knows that her soul mate has been brought into the world when her feelings intensify. Her hungers are easier to feed. She wonders who he is and where she will find him.

Josef is at the end of his rope. He quit his job as a cop so that he could be more effective in protecting the innocent without fighting the red tape. Instead of helping, he has become a killer addicted to the very drug he is trying to get off of the streets. He is on a mission of self-destruction.

When Livia saves Josef from the Syndicate, she discovers that he may be the other half of her soul that she has yearned for. She knows that she must cure Josef of his addiction or he won’t be of any use to her at all. She senses the beast that lurks within him. Josef is the answer to her problems. Livia will try to bring out the beast in her new lover and save her companion’s son from a fate worse than death.

Endangered is an interesting take on a relationship between a vampire and a werewolf. The author relies heavily on the standard lore, but does make some intriguing additions. The plot is interesting, but slow moving in some places. The characters are very lifelike, and while they are not all likeable, they make it easy to follow the story. The scenes flow together well. There are spots in the story that could benefit from a little more description, but overall this was a good story. It is contemporary with historical elements that are blended together so that there is a smooth transition from past to present.
