The Vixen

Leigh Longwurth does not remember his parents nor much of his life before Olyn and Helga adopted him. Though they are compassionate and caring, he is lonely. One fateful morning, he rescues an orphaned fox not knowing she is his destiny. Years later, Leigh is sent to King Arthur’s court for training but he misses Kit and their home.

Kit O’Malley, pirate captain, forges her own destiny and no sorcerer or King will alter it. After a turbulent storm and mutiny strands her and Scilti on an unknown island, she experiences memories and feelings that were previously unknown to her. Who is this boy she remembers? Why does she know this castle? And how did she become a fox?

Due to an unforeseen turn of events, Leigh and Kit are reunited. However, their reunion is short lived because Leigh’s cousin Guinivere has been kidnapped by Sir Lancelot and Morganna. Their future and England’s will be shattered if they fail to liberate Guinivere from her captors. In the midst of treachery and betrayal, Leigh and Kit realize love and forgiveness has the power to save a Queen.

The Vixen is an Arthurian tale that blends the influence of the Druids with the coming of Christianity. A. Dee Carey deftly depicts the wisdom of the young in the midst of the mighty. The Vixen is a sweeping saga that follows the trials, tribulations, hopes, and faith of Leigh and Kit. I hope that A. Dee Carey continues to write about Leigh and Kit.
