Dark Magic
In the continuing saga of the tortured Carpathians, Christine Feehan has created yet another keeper. The Dark One, Gregori, has made several appearances in previous books. He is the dark, brooding healer whom no one can ruffle - that is, until Dark Magic.
Gregori has walked a razor’s edge for centuries. He has taken his duty to the Dark Prince seriously. That dedication and the slim hope of the prince’s daughter, Savannah Dubrinski, have kept him from turning Vampire. Since her inception, this tiny girl has carried his hope of salvation. Gergori feels that he has manipulated the elements and bound her to him unjustly. Torn between the ends justifying the means and his compassion for her, Gregori has offered her five years of freedom. Five years to a near immortal seems like nothing, but for one so close to turning evil, it’s an eternity.
A gifted magician whose skills reach further into the unknown than most of her patrons realize, Savannah has spent her life denying the ache in her soul for the most feared Carpathian, Gregori. As with the young and beautiful, she’d once flaunted her beauty and magnetism, enjoying the attention of the Carpathian men. There were so few women to the large number of men. In her ignorance, she’d tested their prowess; she’d come away knowing two things: first, she never should have played with the men that way, and second, there is only one man she wants. Gregori’s kiss seared her soul for the five years she traveled. Now, that time is up, Hunters are close. Her life and all Carpathian life is in danger. There is only one person who can be her mate, her lifemate - only one man can complete her. Together, they must join and stop the encroaching evil ,with her light to balance out his darkness.
Christine Feehan never fails to suck me in with her Carpathian Series. Although I have read the books out of order, it has not detracted from the appeal of each book. Even though this is a series, each book stands poignantly alone. This is one of my favorites thus far in the series. Gregori is the ultimate yum, and Savannah, once she accepts the truth of her love for Gregori, is a delight. This is definitely a do-not-miss tale, earning Five Angels and rating a Recommended Read.
