One Way To Love
The world of Borishia is a very old one, so old that everything must be imported from other planets. Even the slaves must be imported. The culture of Borishia is one of buying and selling, making contracts, and having commodities. Four female slaves are brought to the Megametropolis, and their adventures demonstrate the spiritual vacuum in Borishian society. One of the women, Miniane of Edenia, brings a spiritual message to the Borishians that threatens the very foundation of their society.
In this novella, the world of Borishia represents the lack of spirituality in a society that is based merely on physical things. In such a society, even people become mere things to be owned and traded at will. This is what happens to the four women who are brought to Borishia as Female Commodities.
While I found the premise and the theme of this story to be interesting, I thought the plot was a little too “busy.” By following four protagonists along different plot paths, the author makes this story unnecessarily complex, in my opinion. Of the four different women, I believe the character of Badbh the most interesting, in that she thought for herself, and tried to take action when necessary. Miniane, as the main spiritual force in the story, was interesting (but a little unbelievable) in her total spirituality that ignored all else. The other two female protagonists helped to further the story in more minor roles. The sex scenes in this story are sensual and moderately explicit, but the emphasis in this book is primarily on the science fiction story, with a little romance thrown in. I considered this a pleasant read on a rainy Saturday afternoon when I had nothing to do.
