The Colors of Lust: Black Knight

Cyan has learned to trust the precognitive abilities she has through her dreams. A cold, emotionless upbringing that segued into a colder marriage has left Cyan open for warmth, from almost any corner. Erotic dreams foretell the coming of a slightly sinister dark knight. The small feelings of foreboding do not deter her uneasy anticipation of how this will impact her life. Cyan’s empathic abilities led her to a job in the counselor’s office of a Native American college. She cannot stand to see (or feel) anyone in pain, be it physical or psychological. As a result, she ends up with a lot more on her plate than her regular everyday workload. Case in point: her friend Sharee has asked Cyan to make an extra effort to help her cousin Derian adjust to college life.

An outreach program gives prisoners one more shot at rehabilitation while bettering their education. Derian is one such student. He is also the Black Knight from Cyan’s dreams. She has a hard time concentrating on anything after her first meeting with this stranger who knows her all to well. Strong, sleek and well muscled, Derian carries with him an air of danger, barely leashed violence. This, as well as her one brief look into his soul, both compels and repels Cyan. She knows that he is trouble, but she comes to need him with a maniac fervor anyways.

Logan Blue’s Colors of Lust: Black Knight is a unique blend of paranormal, contemporary and hot sweaty sex. Derian is a character you'll either love or hate. There is little room for mediocre feelings about this intense character who is almost death wish serious. He has such major control issues that I was surprised Cyan fell for him. Living with her indifferent, alcoholic husband should have taught her a little better than to fall for someone as manipulative as Derian. His attitude and her subservience aside, this is a well thought out and well put together book. I didn’t agree with Logan Blue’s portrayal of Cyan falling for Derian’s lines and abuse, but the extremely inventive sex overshadowed any concerns that I had with the plot.
