QuixotiQ

Guy Kelton dreams at night - horrible and black murky dreams with no meaning and no end. He often awakens in the middle of his dreams and blankly stares into the darkness, hoping beyond hope for more. For he is a little cog in a big wheel, and every day the same old routine stares him in the face. Until one day, he dreams in the daylight and awakens disoriented and numb. Then he goes out to buy a gun.

Christina Haywood loves her roses and her fantasies of Rose Land, where she is safe and warm in its fragrant sweetness. She comes out of her daydreams to find her boss leaving the office, having just fired her. Her mother is sick and dying, wasting away to nothing. What will Christina do now that she is all alone?

Patrick Roymint is miserable. His family is dead and he is dwelling endlessly on their deaths. He doesn’t work, he can’t make himself really live, and he is sinking deeper and deeper into depression. Then he is marked by the lady with the snake, and finds himself a courier for dealings of the seedy sort...

QuixotiQ is a surreal, dreamy and edgy piece, pitting reality and heartbreak against sanity. The author winds these three main characters in and out of each other’s lives, picking up and setting down their particular stories at will. This is definitely a spooky and otherworldly story, making readers not quite sure what is a dream and what is real. Are these people crazy or is it the world that they live in that’s insane? To find out, read QuixotiQ.
