Cariboo Lunewulf - Taming Heather
Taming Heather is the first story in the Cariboo Lunewulf series.
In a new world where werewolves are coming out of the metaphorical closet, Heather Graham is an aspiring journalist who is determined to make her name by separating fiction from fact. Happening upon a funeral ritual is just what she needs to make her career. When Marc McAllister interrupts her filming, he is livid. He can’t believe that she would be so callous as to spy on a private ritual. Heather can’t believe that she finds him attractive and is disturbed to find that she can’t get him out of her mind. These two strong-willed characters try to understand their attraction to each other. Can a human love a monster? Can a lunewulf convince a human that he’s not a monster?
This is a phenomenal story that deals with the subjects of bigotry and intolerance as well as a love affair. The characters that Ms. O’Clare introduces in Cariboo Lunewulf: Taming Heather, are realistic. She doesn’t try to pretty them up and give them only good qualities; she lets them be true to their feelings. This is a unique viewpoint of bigotry and of conquering a basic fear. To have werewolves living side by side in a community and seeing the reactions that humans really would have, helped to make the book that much more believable. I look forward to reading Cariboo Lunewulf - The Pursuit, which comes out late June 2005.
