Staying Dead

Wren Valere is a Retriever, a lonejack with the ability to find things and retrieve them for their original owners. It sounded easy: retrieve a spelled cornerstone for the owner. It ended up being life-threatening. When an evil is released from the stone, it’s up to Wren and her partner Sergei to find out how to complete the job and right a centuries-old wrong. Not only does she have this job to do, but she finds that she’s being followed and observed by a shadowy government agency. The life of a lonejack is anything but boring.

I was so fascinated by the give and take that went on between Sergei and Wren. It was almost hard to watch them be friends with possibilities. The world that Ms. Gilman has created is rich and detailed. This was an absolutely fabulous read that lets readers escape for a few hours. There are no holes in this story, and the characters match the world seamlessly. I have read the sequel and am anxiously awaiting news on more titles in this series. All I want is more. The next book is Curse the Dark and it can be found in your neighborhood bookstores in July.
