Windwalker

Justine is a photojournalist trying to escape her past. She is weighed down by the death of her brother and their fractured childhood. She has spent her whole life chasing something intangible. Thousands of miles away Adam Buchannan has tried to escape the blood on his hands to no avail. He has carved the semblance of a life from the Namibian desert. He has hidden himself from many in the ghost town of Kemler’s Folly. Adam has always believed that his soul mate is out there waiting for him. He never doubted and was rewarded by finding Justine’s picture in an obscure photo magazine. Traveling to another continent, will he find her? Will she accept him?

This was a depressing and uplifting novel. I found myself rooting for these two wounded souls throughout the story. There were times when I forgot that I was sitting in my front room reading and found myself in a small village in England or amidst the dunes of Namibia. Ms. Mostert did an amazing job of making you a part of the story and enmeshing you in the characters lives. I was so awed by her ability to make me cry and yet have hope that I gave this book 5 Angels and a Recommended Read rating.
