Blazing Sun, Burning Hearts
Archeologist Lillian Drake has been recruited by the United States to try to convince Arabia’s Prince Abdulla to join in the war against the Turks. Shortly after she arrives in Arabia, she witnesses a terrible massacre and is found wandering in the desert by one of Abdulla’s servants.
British Officer Jackson Crawford is also on a mission to negotiate with Abdulla. Jackson is instantly intrigued when he sees a beautiful woman with green eyes among the Prince’s entourage. After following her to a cave, he discovers Lillian’s true identity. As a sand storm rages outside the cave, passion rages inside and the two give in to their mutual attraction. The pair find it impossible to stay away from each other and fall into a passionate affair. But, as much as they come to love each other, they both have reason to think their relationship will last only as long as they are on the mission.
Blazing Sun, Burning Hearts is a great novel in every sense. Along with Ms. Sommersby’s vivid descriptions of the Arabian desert, there is plenty of character development and a strong storyline. The erotic love story weaves it all together beautifully. It’s so well-written that it’s easy to overlook the times the dialogue is not in keeping with the era and the unlikely premise that a woman would have been sent on such a mission in 1917. I truly enjoyed Blazing Sun, Burning Hearts and highly recommend it to readers looking for an historical romance as hot as the desert sun!
