Broken Wings

Dearn the King of the Winged clans is faced with the destruction of his people, from the mythic Vulture rogue clan that were reported to have been executed in the great war, untold centuries past. For years the Winged clans had learned about the death and destruction that the Vultures had perpetuated on its own people as well as the raping of women of all clans. Dearn has always struggled with the belief that the half-breeds, that had been cast out to be killed with the Vulture clans, were treated unfairly. He gets his opportunity to make all that right when he finds an ally in these same half-breeds, or bastard breeds, that should have been killed. While Dearn struggles to bring his people together and rally to fight, he also must battle his attraction to a female warrior whom Dearn was taught to disparage, a half-breed vulture woman named Matte.

As for Matte, she too is unwillingly attracted to the King of the Winged clans. Even knowing it can never go beyond her thoughts, she still cannot resist each glimpse she takes from afar. When she finally meets Dearn, everything she has been taught, all the lessons learned as a commander in her clans fighting force, fly out the window; all due to her fascination with Dearn. Matte struggles to assist Dearn in successfully defeating the Vultures and the rogue humans, all the while dutifully following the orders of the leader of the Vulture clan. Every slight and duty she performs for the Vultures is a step towards her ultimate goal of ensuring the survival of her own honourable bastard breed clan that awaits across the world, in a land populated by an unspeakable predator.

Oh my lord this story was amazing. The characters are so vibrant you can feel every tear; every bit of heartbreak is amplified tenfold from the words that Ms. Leigh has placed on each page of this story. Page after page, you, the reader are in the moment of each piece of drama and action. I have read many of Ms. Leigh’s books and I keep thinking she cannot get any better, with each new book she publishes, but folks, she has. The funny part is, you don’t even miss the scorching love scenes she is known for, in this particular story. Lora Leigh’s Broken Wings is a nail biting, breath holding, tear jerking, absolute must read story. You know the saying that each page is an adventure, well in this story it is the absolute truth. Get this book! If you don’t you are going to hit yourself over the head for your lack of foresight!
