Secret Thirst

The heroine, Dr. Lauren Wright, is a plus size, independent and vibrant woman. Like most plus size women, she is on a diet to lose those plus pounds, which makes her come to life; as you read more of her you empathize with her. Not only does Lauren appeal because of weight and self esteem issues but she has shown how these issues have in no way held her back but have made her more determined, and resilient, to succeed. One of her successes is the development of a formula of synthetic blood, called NuBlood that is practically undetectable from human blood. As we get to know Lauren, she shows a repressed nature that she only opens on her laptop…her fantasies of being dominated. All her frustration and satisfaction are created and stored on this laptop that she never intended anyone but her to see or read. She is brutally honest about what she desires; even knowing that many women would disparage her because of the contradiction of whom Lauren represents, the strong independent woman, versus, who Lauren craves, the submissive creature in the bedroom.

Our hero, Nicolas Kris a.k.a. Nickoli Kristov, has been assigned the task of obtaining Dr. Wright’s formula, at any cost, by his organization the Brotherhood of Truth. The Brotherhood must get the formula to show during the Gathering of their kind, a once in a hundred year get together. It is the only way they can make their goal of informing the humans of their existence. They believe once the Council has heard this they will be more amendable to informing the world of their existence. However, their opposition, the Dark Eyes who are steeped in the old ways will in no way agree to this suggestion. During his research he has a short window of opportunity to snatch Dr. Wright’s laptop. Once home, he believes his job is almost done. However, once he opens it, believing it contains her work, he gets a massive shock realizing it contains hundreds of Lauren’s deepest and darkest fantasies. Nicolas, tired of the run around, takes matter in his own hands and decides to go with his original idea of approaching Dr. Wright directly. Thus he meets Dr. Wright at her lab under the guise of purchasing the formula.

While Lauren and her lab are awaiting FDA approval they are approached by multiple company representatives to purchase the formula. Nicolas just happens to be one of these. When Lauren turns down Nicolas’s initial offer of money, he attempts to sweeten the deal with immeasurable riches and when that doesn’t work, he offers Lauren the opportunity to make each and every one of her fantasies reality. Nicolas will do whatever it takes for the Brotherhood to obtain NuBlood and if in the process he gets a chance to get a luscious bite of Dr. Wright he’s all for it.

What an amazing read. The sparks fly between the hero and heroine in Evangeline Anderson’s The Secret Thirst. This reviewer found this story to be a refreshing approach that captures your interest all the way to the end. It is loaded with drama, adventure, intrigue, volcanic love scenes and magnetic attraction between the hero and the heroine that make you keep panting for more. Get it, you’ll regret it if you don’t.
