Passions of the Flame
The Eve of Bealtuinn is a magical celebration and time of renewal. When the fires are lit the veil between the human world and the faery world disappears and all are free to mingle.
Scottish warrior Kane Siosal comes to celebrate Bealtuinn and isn’t looking for love until he encounters beautiful, lavender eyed, Fallon. Half fae half human, she’s a Druid Healer. She will not look upon a man’s eyes, especially Kane’s for fear it will make him mad, like her dear human Father. Her father was seduced by the queen of the fae, Gwyndolen, over twenty years ago. From that passion Fallon was born and her father is in a state of perpetual mindlessness.
Over in the faery realm, Gwyndolen yearns to see her daughter and so makes a deal with Moros. Moros, a Greek fae, is condemned by Demeter a powerful Greek Olympian, to live a mortal life because of his innate ability to disrupt harmony within the worlds. In exchange for bringing Fallon to the faery world Gwyndolen offers to plead on Moros behalf to return him to his ethereal body.
Moros shows up to wreak havoc on the human world, challenging Kane with a pouch of silver to be the one who beds Fallon first. Kane is not taking any bets, but he vows to protect Fallon from Moros.
Fallon has never let herself be attracted to a man for fear he would end up like her Father…mindless. Fallon’s resolve breaks down. She cannot resist Kane. Their passion ignites. This angers Moro and he spirits Fallon away to the faery world. Kane follows and must fight Moros for Fallon, until one of them dies. He is at a disadvantage on the faery’s turf, without any magic to protect him.
Passions of the Flame immerses the reader into the Faery and Gaelic world. Angel Lynn brings her characters vividly to the page, intriguing the reader with the classic struggle between good and evil. She effortlessly tells this magical tale of true love. Love, with a little help from fate, will conquer all.
I really enjoyed getting to know the characters and different worlds in Passions of the Flame. The old world language brought the story to life and made it believable. All of the characters had strong personalities and the storyline flowed perfectly. I look forward to reading more of Angel Lynn’s writing. A very enjoyable read.
