When Prince Sariel of the Angelic Order of Gregori, the oldest and most powerful angels, comes to judge her ward Rosalind, Alyssa’s world changes forever. While his job is to determine whether or not Rosalind is a Nephilim, the product of a Gregori angel and a human, and destroy her if she has the tendency toward evil, he can’t help but see that Alyssa needs his help. He uses his angelic powers to guide Alyssa’s memories and they discover that she is a Rebel Angel. Semi-fallen, Alyssa is cursed by her own words. She cannot tell truth from lies and once she speaks a lie, it in fact becomes a truth to her. But she can tell that Sariel is the most sexual, sensual being she’s ever met and she wants him.

Sariel is tempted beyond belief by Alyssa. As a Gregori angel, he lives in celibacy to atone for the mistakes made by his order and the birth of the Nephilim. He fights his attraction to Alyssa, knowing that the Daughters of Man are forbidden. But as a Rebel Angel, is Alyssa forbidden as well? Can he fight back the beast within himself, especially when Alyssa is not fighting their attraction? Sariel will have to search for the truth about Rosalind and himself as well as protect them from the Fallen Angel pursuing Rosalind.

Rebel Angels 2: Echoes and Embers is a thoroughly entertaining read with strong characters and a great story. Although second in the Rebel Angel series, it can be read as a stand alone with no difficulties. Alyssa’s dilemma is interesting since her Rebel Angel curse has hindered her ability to know truth from lies. She has lived among humans for so long without the memory that she was an angel that she does not remember how to be an angel. She’s fearful for her ward and at the same time attracted to Sariel, Rosalind’s judge. Sariel fights the beast within himself, afraid that if it’s ever again released, he would not be able to control it. But his sensual side will not be denied and his hunger for Alyssa grows, especially when she begins to regain the truth and her Angel abilities. Ms. Friberg’s world of Rebel Angels just continues to get better and better. I completely enjoyed this one and so will you!
