Where Eagles Soar
As a young divorced mother in 1880’s Washington Territory, Annie Trowbridge has just received her teaching credentials, and is looking for a position as a teacher. Annie wants to live somewhere other then dirty Seattle, somewhere her young daughter can run and play with other children. Jed O’Connell of Jed’s Landing has been convinced by the women in his logging camp to hire a teacher for the children. Jed is determined to only hire a male teacher since conditions in the logging camp are primitive and the winters are harsh. What Jed is not aware of is how headstrong Annie Trowbridge can be.
Beverly Ruuth has written a wonderful love story in Where Eagles Soar. Annie is a delight to read about as she goes about winning the heart of Jed, totally without meaning to. Jed is a man whose past is holding him back from being able to embrace a future with Annie or anyone else. The secondary love stories involved in this novel are a treat. The story moves along quickly keeping you involved the whole way through. Time flew as I read this book. I was very sorry to see it end. I will enjoy seeing more writing from this author. She has a very eloquent way of writing about people and places.
