In the Silver Screen of Dreams

Single, in her early thirties and still living at home, the heroine, Emily, is a devoted if misguided daughter. Emily still lives at home to take care of her verbally abusive mother, Mrs. Gwynne-Jones. Due to the verbal abuse and often time mental abuse she suffers at the hands, and lips, of her mother, Emily has low-self esteem and an active imagination. Her only justifiable escape from the horrors of home is her job at the tourism board. Her work and her dreams are her salvation. In her dreams, our heroine sees spirits who offer varying degrees of “helpful” advice.

Llewelyn, the hero, works with Emily and has a secret fascination with her. However, secrets, lies, and horrible rumor threaten Emily and Llewelyn’s chance at a future.

I thought Naso did a fantastic job weaving Celtic lore throughout this haunting tale of dreams and possibility. Though, if you are not familiar with the lore, there are places throughout the story which will be confusing. Also, the jumping from dream sequence to middle of conversation at times was a bit abrupt. However, over all I found this a delightful read with haunting chills occasionally racing my spine with Naso’s fantastic descriptions and melodic word choice. Old Hollywood images were made crystal clear with the imagery and aching need for tenderness.
