Telling Tales
Darci is attempting to settle down and lead a nice quiet life in her new town. When she meets Carrie Forrest, she soon learns that the woman’s friendliness is a pretense for a sad and vindictive nature. Carrie begins spreading rumors about Darci, threatening Darci’s social position and professional career as a new teacher. Darci publicly confronts Carrie and warns her that she won’t tolerate Carrie’s gossip. When Carrie ends up murdered, Darci becomes the number one suspect.
Sheriff Kellan Grant has been fantasizing about Darci since she first came to town. Her lush figure is a major turn on and he appreciates the low key profile she’s maintained, avoiding petty small town gossip. While he believes that Darci had nothing to do with Carrie’s murder, he knows he has to keep a cool head. Yet, Kellan can’t help but act on his feelings. Soon it’s apparent that Carrie’s death is connected to a more complicated agenda. Can Kellan keep an objective view in order to carry out his job, and more importantly, can he solve the murders before more people end up dead?
Telling Tales is a story of deep rooted fantasy, desire and those who will go to extreme lengths to get what they’ve dreamed of. I enjoyed the buildup between Kellan and Darci, their attraction to each other and the exciting way that Kellan takes what he wants. Kellan finds Darci sweeter than he’d dreamed and I found myself rooting for him to unleash his emotions and give Darci the experience of her lifetime. Darci isn’t a pushover, she’s a woman who knows what she wants as well, but she also has a soft side and has fantasized about Kellan for some time. I liked that the romantic aspect was fueled by lust but honed by love. The plot of sexy cop and the tempting witness is always a seductive lure but it was the highly satisfying sex scenes and repartee between the couple that made the story realistic and entertaining. Kellan’s protectiveness of Darci had me shivering in delight and I liked watching him fall in love with Darci even though it wasn’t his plan. This is an enjoyable read for those who like their erotic romance laced with intrigue.
