Endgame
Madison Harper is a profiler with the FBI, but her career seems to be taking a backseat as she’s just been relieved of all her current duties because her godfather needs her help. That is the power behind Cullen Pulaski. When he wants something, no matter what it is, he makes a phone call and it’s his.
Gabriel Roarke is less than thrilled at being “needed” by Cullen, and like Madison, Gabe doesn’t appear to have a choice in the matter. Recent occurrences find Cullen and his associates possibly under attack. Several have recently died under “normal” circumstances, but to a man of Cullen’s business prestige, he can’t ignore what looks like a pattern. So Cullen acquires presidential approval for a task force; a task force, which Madison and Gabe are to jointly manage.
When two strong willed, territorial people are mandated to share the lead position, sparks are sure to fly. Gabe gets under Madison’s skin like no other ever has and Gabe can’t figure out why he’s drawn to Madison when as a rule he’d be high tailing it in the other direction. One thing is for certain, when Madison comes under the line of fire, Gabe will do everything within his power to keep her from harm.
Endgame is a fast paced, romantic suspense that will have readers absorbed from the beginning. Madison and Gabe’s journey for the truth is fashioned by their loyalty to Cullen and the forces trying to stop them. Just when readers think they’ve solved the puzzle, Dee Davis skillfully moves the pieces around and it’s a whole new ballgame. The dialog at times can be complex, but there isn’t much about international commerce and trading, that I image is cut and dry. However, Dee Davis lays it out in a way that readers stay caught up in the story and just might learn something in the process. I enjoyed this story as a whole because the characters, both the main and secondary are likable and identifiable to readers for their validity. The plot contains plenty of mystery that compelled me to continue reading. It’s gratifying to read a book by Ms. Davis. The suspense keeps readers at the edge of their seats and it’s always entertaining to see what she’s thought up next.
