Every Whispered Word

Lady Camelia Marshall is determined to complete a life long quest of her father’s. A renowned archeologist, he had devoted most of his life to discovering a hidden tomb in Africa while most others in his field were searching other parts of the world. After her father’s death, Camelia decides to finish searching for the tomb. However there is someone out there who is just as determined to see her leave Africa. Not able to get the equipment she needs in Africa, she comes to London in search of Simon Kent, a brilliant inventor, whom she believes may have the pump she needs to clear her site of its water.

When Lady Camelia shows up at his door, or rather in his house unannounced, Simon Kent is thrown off guard. Not only does she stir something inside of him, but she also wants him to drop all of his current inventions to work on a past project and go to Africa to help her. At first Simon refuses to help her, but after a string of unfortunate events he decides he must help her.

Time is against them both and someone is desperately trying hard to keep them from accomplishing Camelia’s goal of finding the hidden King of Tombs. Will all Camelia’s hard work be for naught or will they actually find a secret Tomb?

The quirky cast of this story alone is a reason to read Karyn Monk’s newest book. Lady Camelia has a host of pets, which include a monkey named Oscar, a Grey Lourie named Harriet and her tiger snake Rupert. Each of these pets adds humor to the story with their playful actions. Zareb, Camelia’s long time friend from Africa, also adds a bit of zest in the plot along with Simon’s servant Oliver.

Every Whispered Word is truly a gem that readers of Regency romance will not want to miss. The cast of characters will leave you laughing for hours on end while the mystery behind who is trying to deter Lady Camelia will captivate your attention. The turn of events at the end of the book will leave readers applauding Ms. Monk’s creativity.
