Windworld: Desire's Sirocco

Jameela Anthus is at the end of the line. Her father and brothers have gambled away her dowry and as she stands on a slave block, Trainer Dagan Kiel buys and claims her for the Brotherhood. Dagan then trains her for pleasure, disregarding his own wishes to keep her for himself.

Dagan prepares and teaches her for the Master, and she is indoctrinated into the delights of the flesh. When the Master claims her, however, she only wishes that he were Dagan. Her heart has been stolen by Dagan, and he is helpless against her love. “What I bind, stays bound,” are Dagan’s words to her, and they are prophetic ones. Jameela is well and truly bound to Dagan, in spite of the fact that she is to marry the Master; she is placed in the extremely tough position of being torn between two men.

Then, of course, we have the villains of the piece. A sorceress and warrioress, Lady Neith barely missed out on winning Jameela in the slave auction, and has plans for a dynasty that include having Dagan as her consort. Power-hungry Prince Sekhem is the lord of the neighboring lands, and has his own plans for taming Dagan. There is great evil at work here, and puzzlement on the behalf of Dagan’s army when they see scores of their cattle felled and drained of blood.

Desire’s Sirocco is a lusty piece of erotic reading with dual storylines of forbidden love and paranormal shape-shifting. Ms. Boyett-Compo skillfully spins her tale of submission, desire, and the power that a woman finds in fulfilling the needs of her body. The twisting plot kept my attention and drew me into the story. Jameela and Dagan are the best kind of characters - layered, tormented, and emotional. Desire’s Sirocco is a perfect beginning to what I hope will be many more related intriguing stories from Charlotte Boyett- Compo.
