On the Prowl
What’s that old saying about hell having no fury like a woman scorned? Does it serve true as well for a woman used and discarded? On the Prowl whirls readers into a vortex of erotic passion, lust, robbery and more; Kimberly Dean’s fast-paced writing style and attention to detail engage the imagination and draw readers into her story.
Talia Sizemore is just trying to run her collectibles shop and keep her family's art foundation for underprivileged kids afloat. The problem is, her nemesis Brent Harrington has blocked her funding through the local Council of Arts; if that is not bad enough, he takes advantage of the situation and tries to get Talia to “earn” his favor and his vote on the Council. Talia, in a fit of rage and bewilderment at his callous treatment of her, steals a priceless objet d’art from his home at the Council party. So, a thief is born. Talia has access to the homes of the elite rich in her circle of friends, and embarks on a wild ride as she lines the pockets of the kids’ foundation with the spoils of her craft.
“Bona fide hottie” Detective Riley Kinkade is investigating the thefts, and something about Talia draws him to her over and over again. It certainly doesn’t hurt that Talia is leggy, available, and gorgeous.
Talia is a bit of a hussy, but in an extremely likeable way. She sees herself as just doing what needs to be done to provide for the kids. It also may have something to do with the fact that she gets a sexual thrill from stealing. As her list of stolen items adds up, the community gets wind of one of her conquests, courtesy of a jealous wife, and she is somewhat shunned. This only serves to tick her off and cement her course to make the foundation financially solvent. When she comes up with the idea for a huge charity auction, the sparks between Riley and Talia burn hotter and hotter.
On the Prowl is a hilarious and a vastly entertaining look at a good girl seduced by the exhilaration of thievery. I think I’ve found a new all-time favorite line - “Get your revenge. Womanhandle me”. It was a rare pleasure to join Talia on her journey to learning herself. Wonderful job, Ms. Dean!
