Shrinking Violet

Miss Violet Amelia Conner, called Leah, is a little spitfire trying to make her living as a gardener, and a darn good one, if you ask her. While she might not have the physique for the job, she more than makes up for her lack of stature with her willingness to get the job done. She takes a job cleaning up and landscaping a yard, and is more than surprised to find that the owner of the property is less than thrilled to have her doing work for him. His rich sister contracted the work without his permission and sparks start to fly.

Private investigator Sean Russel is having a very bad day; his meddling sister hired someone to mess with his yard, and he is on the receiving end of a beating by a couple of lowlifes. Then he suffers the indignity of a kidnapping, and the even worse insult of being rescued by the lady landscaper. To top off his bad day, his client list includes a gorgeous soap opera star who claims that she is being stalked by a crazed fan, but he is not entirely sure that she is not just after his body. Life is pretty complicated.

As Leah gets more involved with Sean and the case, they take a wild ride chasing the stalker. With every moment, Leah and Sean are drawn more closely together. When the case is over, will they have a relationship or just the memories of some really incredible times between the sheets?

Shrinking Violet is a fast-paced, action-packed story with a punch. I enjoyed Leah and Sean, and their obvious aversion to entanglements provided an interesting twist to this tale. When Leah finds herself undeniably attracted to Sean, her conclusions about Sean and the small child in his care nearly shatter the fragile bond between them. There was not a dull moment to be found as Ms. McGill’s story unfolded. Shrinking Violet is full of plot surprises, twisting and turning back and in on itself. I especially loved Leah constantly reminding Sean that she is a “landscape designer” not a gardener.
