California Cowboy
It was a set up…!
Chance Bodine had found the perfect woman for his older brother, Clay. Clay took himself way too seriously and needed some light-hearted loving, fast. Chance had met Bobbie Carlington when she was down on her luck. She had just sold her much treasured mare, Lady, to Clay so he offered her a temporary housekeeping job at the Lazy B Ranch so that she would still be with the horse.
Right from their first accidental introduction, Clay and Bobbie rub each other the wrong way. Clay sees the voluptuous little red-head as nothing but an erotic distraction. He takes out his absolute frustration on her, causing Bobbie to accidentally burn herself twice. Clay feels guilty and his anger increases tenfold. Bobbie cannot believe the rudeness of her drop-dead gorgeous new boss. Even when she accidentally walks in on him stroking his own passion, he has the nerve to blame her! Just when she thinks that she has him worked out and has decided to steer clear, Clay takes her in his arms and kisses her breathless. He cannot keep his hands off her breasts. Whilst Bobbie is swept away with pleasure she does not feel him leaving a huge hickey on her neck. The following morning, she sees it for what it is; a clear “hands off” signal to other men. Bobbie cannot believe that even Clay could be so arrogantly insensitive. Bobbie may be naïve, but she is sure that there is just no way that these bullying tactics are going to work on her. Clay Bodine acts like a chauvinistic cowboy but it is a cover for the unsettling effect that Bobbie has on him. Clay’s libido has gone into overdrive, Bobbie argues back instead of bowing to his demands and the harder he tries to please her, the more he puts his feet in his mouth. Bobbie is sure that Clay is the best lover that she has ever had, but maybe asking her to live with his overbearing, possessive manner could be too much.
The sensual fireworks Maggie Casper sets off in her latest erotic treat will even have readers seeing stars. Her characters are down to earth and very believable. The author’s insight into the workings of an arrogant and highly aroused man is often quite humorous and had this reader laughing out loud. Clay’s tough exterior is a cover for the insecure feelings he experiences when he realizes that he has no control over the woman he desires most of all. His love is solid, but even Clay cannot see this. California Cowboy is a realistic and very enjoyable romantic tale. The eroticism is highly explicit and has a hint of bondage and spanking, but it is always depicted as lovemaking and is an essential factor in the growth of the relationship. I would recommend this story to readers who enjoy erotic tales featuring tall, dark, moody and sensuous cowboy heroes as well as to Maggie Casper’s rapidly growing fan base.
